Pool Shark

I was disturbed and confused after stumbling across this Cashmere Navy Square Sweater on Impulse - instantly taken by a piece from a designer I've never been too fond of. I think the bad taste in my mouth is from the styling on the models - trashy and not in a cute heroin-chic kind of way. After a second look I cannot find it on the Tom Scott website but would it have made a difference?
Maybe they should hire the Impulse girls for the next shoot.

The Girl's Distracted

This 'ode to helmut lang no1' necklace is an arrow right through my minimalist heart (fobby accent appropriate). I've never felt Alex & Chloe's pieces have been my style so maybe it's the Helmut shining through?

Pocket Symphony

I super want this Pleated shirt by Doo.Ri for Gap. Since it's sold out in everything but XXL online (slept on that shit, oops) and the thought of dealing with stores makes me feel sick I turn to ebay. Starting bid $0.99. Done.

Summer & Longer

Here are some previews of the Jesse Reyna Jr. Summer '07 collection. The whole collection was shown this weekend and I was incredibly impressed by the cute detailing of each piece. All hand made, one of a kinds.
Keep your eyes on this one, he's only 17!

Full updates will be on his site soon. Watch the video here.
I'm lucky to now own three Jesse Reyna Jr. pieces and one Creatures shirt - the latest yayness of which he made for me can be seen below several hours and shots later that night.

Company Calls

Diane (who's brilliance I'd highly suggest checking out if you haven't yet become one of us obsessed) posted that she would love to know what I ended up wearing to the interview and after my extensive searchings I'm quite proud! My inspiration came from this look from the Celine Fall 2007 show - satin detailing, all black and slim pants.

I love the satin detailing on this tux style BCBG Max Azria jacket - when I saw it I knew! The pockets make me think of this Christian Dior jacket from the Fall 2007 collection.

Simple delicate necklace from Vale Jewelry.

Vintage sheer shirt, gotta keep it real. Also fed my overly particular tendencies with black buttons.

Helmut Lang wool pants that were a perfect match of color and fabric for the jacket - amazing yayness! These set me back but I couldn't get over their simple but unique pocket detailing and perfect fit.

The Dani Black shoes which are one of the most luxuriously comfortable leather pumps imaginable.

Best part of all is I can naturally incorporate all of these items into my regular wear.
Interview went well, wish me luck :)

Girl O'Clock

While searching for interview attire, I have ulterior motives of stretching the limits of a boring suit and incorporating pieces that can be used casually later on. There's nothing more depressing than the full suit hanging in my closet I'll never wear again. Really, this just allows me try on to a plethora of cute pricey undershirts I can attempt to convince myself are necessities.
This was def the case of the Sally Tseng shirt below that took me with it's sheer fabric, subtle pinstripes and back-clipped black silk.
Eventually rationality kicked in, but a girl can dream can't she?

I love how the hood on this shirt brings it back down to earth.
I think she nails feminine, cool professionalism.

Oh [Perry] it's about to begin...

I attribute my crush on polos to their boyish charm.
In junior high I'd steal small dark polos from my younger brother's closet.
In high school, many many striped vintage finds.
In college, a white Lacoste tee (on sale, of course).

Jesse Reyna Jr. just sent over the link to Jessica Ogden's limited edition collabs with Fred Perry, resulting in gasps. I'll get older but I'll never get over.

Poster Of A Girl

I picked up a postcard of a piece by Ben Tour and it has grown more and more on me.

I'm not able to connect with the bulk of his work but this one really captures so much emotion. It sits on my desk and my mind often wanders off to the wrinkle in her brow and red spots around her lips.

Meat Is Murder

I feel like a walking contradiction at times refusing to eat any animal products while toting around my oversized Rachel Nasvik leather.
If there's any that can change my mind, it's these veganies from Matt & Nat which boast to be the highest quality non-leather bags. Hey, I can't front...the soy chicken taquitos I ate yesterday were the shit.

Matt & Nat

I'm especially into the first piece, and at about $100-$150 a pop it may be worth checking out.
Don't expect a full conversion just yet - I just got the Dani Black heels below and love them, great quality.

Kiss the Bottle

These white and black vodkas from Supperclub really increase the possibilities of disguising and smuggling in drinks (happy thoughts by way of my glamorization of alcoholism, immaturity and poverty).
However, they come in bottle I'd actually want to keep around. Absolut who?

Oh Messy Life

At least two days out of the week I am unable to motivate to do anything with my hair but throw it up in a loose bun. The first day it feels messy-glam. The second day I feel semi-frumpy negligent. These are for that second day.

If It Works

I'm searching for the perfect pair of black professional pumps - the kind that are interview appropriate but still leave you feeling stylish and well put together
Requirements: closed toe, under 3'' heel (causing me the most drama), black, no ornate extras, high quality leather, go with a skirt suit
Too much to ask for?

After a uber-extensive web scour and taking it to the streets I've come up with these two options.

Sigerson Morrison, 2 1/4" heel - $280 (after the near $100 discount on zappos)
Upside: the leather, would wear them in casual occasions as well
Downside: That buckle looks cheap, I hope it's only the photo. But really I am so anal-weird that it will drive me nuts wearing a gold necklace and a dulled silver buckle on my shoes.

Dani Black, 2" stacked heel - $153
Upside: price, understated classic
Downside: I'd prefer a more rounded toe

If you know of any good ones out there in the sea of frumpy, holler.

The Yellow Ones

Cute flats in the softest leather ever. I spent at least 30 seconds touching them in a creepy leather-obsessed way (the same obsession that drives me to quickly sweep my hand over my friend's Marc Jacobs bag from time to time hoping she doesn't catch me) These, unlike the bag are only $143.

Matt Bernson

Neat description too:
Like a perfectly blended French mustard, these shoes are hot. And will look good on your dogs. Seriously, this color is now.
I totally have a thing for people who use 'seriously' in comments that don't require seriousness at all.

Fascination Street

This shortee-slever from Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair Spring 07 is so proper! There's something special about the second piece as well - seems like you could throw it over anything on a breezy spring night.

Did You See The Words

Quotables from the weekend:

- Parked outside my apartment. I just can't read "Our Speed Saves You Money" here without thinking of drugs! Maybe the rock and roll reference?

- Off Melrose, apparently they like their white-boys.

And finally, my favorite:

"Take the time to read the bible. Jesus took the time...to die...for you."
- Heard on the god radio that lets my iPod play with a clarity unmatched by any other frequency

Oh and Opening Ceremony LA is goddamn magic. Their line plus greats like United Bamboo, Peter Jensen, Mary Ping, Proenza Schouler, AND TOPSHOP oh my!
Maybe it's due to not having retail-shopped in a while but it was like sensory overload. Everything looked and felt amazing and you could really see the design perfection. Redefinition.
On the other hand, the Urban Outfitters jacket photo that was below was so terribly deceiving I removed that crap.
I guess there is reason to step away from the internets.
