Velvet Snow

Dolce & Gabbana wrapped up Milan and although there was an air of tapestry I dug the skirt shapes and colors.

Straight In The Head

Bruna no!! Dsquared terribly upset me featuring one of my favorite models walking with a cig in hand.

Smoking is horrible, not a nod.
This show did as a whole smell of what not to do but please, do not use Bruna.

Cities Above

Back from NY, much catching up to do.
While my Saturday was cut short by rain drops I did get to stop by 3.1 Phillip Lim and try on the Admiral leather jacket - so brilliant. Come to find out they only had one left, in size 6 - sold out?! Oh my I was not expecting this curve ball. So off to scour other retailers for a 0 or 2...please, I need leather brilliance.
As for my second mission below...well...I didn't throw up!!

Because Of The Times

I'm off to New York! For business and to catch up with a few friends along the way. Week missions: 1. Squeeze as many must shops nights after work and saturday before my 6PM flight back 2. Don't get hammered!

...okay...don't black out is a much more realistic goal.

There Goes My Outfit

NY Spring 2008 Fashion Week final thoughts - although I was underwhelmed with usual greats like Phillip Lim and Alexandre Herchcovitch, Rachel Comey had me gasping through my ideal looks, DVF and Derek Lam schooled on patterns, DKNY happily surprised and Marc Jacobs...sigh.

Most Wanted

White airy and classic Rachel Comey dress with soo much charm, for those days when you give a shit.

Striped DKNY shirt for my drives over Silver Lake hills with the windows down, Air Formation coming through the speakers.

I'm so anxious for tights and these little snaps would mix things up in the perfect way.

Marc Jacobs clutch, because there's always a plethora of inexpensive vintage solids around.

A DVF pattern like nothing I own with real substance and movement.

No clue, but this DVF won't stop making me happy.

Inspirationsss

Perfect. From the first look through Rachel Comey's whole collection, overwhelmingly my taste.

Grids and large plaids always appeal to me and this Alexander Wang look is right on point.

Young let loose cutesy reminder from Karen Walker.

Rolled Sari Gueron pants that come together so well with that banded blouse.

Marc shorts tucked away.

Waves That Never Break

NY Bathing Suit wrap up - here's to actually finding a suit for next Spring that doesn't bore me to pieces. Any of these shapes in solid white would be my ideal.

Long Distance

One surprise across NY Fashion Week collections was my actual interest in long skirts. For the most part there is something terribly unappealing about them but these could be quite nice.

Think of These Things

Stalking these stockings from Noir's Spring 2008 show, a pair or two would be put to good use.

The Best Party Ever

Normally these Spring 08 dresses would air on tacky and young but they look so darn stiff I can't help but adore them - it would be fun just to try them on or wear them to a costume party.

Betsey Johnson

I also fell hard for this pinched dress from Carolina Hererra. It was one of my favorite pieces aesthetically.

I love how Coco Rocha always looks like pheww alright let's do this thing.

Souvenirs

Wow that Marc by Marc Jacobs heel throwback is pretty messed up, although I like the one with stripes. The Spring 2008 collection as a whole seemed more daring than usual Marc shows but pulled apart it may be a bit less radical (sans the uneven jackets). There were definitely some very wearable things in the mix.

Marc by Marc Jacobs

I am curious on the demand for that roller bag.

And nor am I, and this is why...

Oh my, this show was just bonkers. You just have to giggle, which I can't help but imagine Marc Jacobs doing while I browse his collections...banging out kitty slippers and such.
The multi color clutch is blowing my giggly mind.

Let's Go Bowling

It's official - short socks have redeemed themselves!
VPL was one of the many who rocked them proper in their Spring 2008 collection. I look forward to them being more than a sanitary means for visits to the local lanes.

VPL

Anna Sui rocked them with a fab pair of green shoes. I'd love a pair similar deep green shoes as I am super into this color right now.

Colorguard

Chris Benz' dramatic colors were nothing new for him but being a color junkie I can enjoy great tones over and over again when applied to such fine fabrics - these look like they'd feel so great to wear. That yellow color blocking is definatly magical...so may great color blockings seen throughout Fashion Week. My favorite look here is the peach and orange, it makes me think of the kitchen yumms!

I Wanna Be Adored

I have been searching high and low for a striped crew neck and don't understand why it's so difficult, but it seems if my search takes me that far come Spring DKNY shall be there for me. I was surprisingly really impressed with their Spring 2008 collection.

Soft Revolution

I really dug the shapes and patterns of Derek Lam's Spring 2008 collection. DVF always comes strong in the prints arena but this collection I felt especially appealed to me. That orange to pink to yellow fade could possibly be my favorite piece from NY Fashion Week which is strange because it is not typical me. Nevertheless, something about it really gets to me!

Handsome Boy Modeling School

I would have liked to see a lot more from Obedient Son. I'll choose this backdrop over a white runway any day!

Never imagined white socks and sandals could look unfreakish.

United Bamboo

After sifting for greats here and there in numerous collections United Bamboo makes me stand back and say oh yeah, this is what a truly great label looks like. I'd love to own some of these Spring 2008 pieces especially that shirt with the yellow strip.

So let's just see what happens when the summer ends...

Well I must say it's been a good one. Good adventures, good company, good red bathing suits. See you in a year summer.

Candy Coated Kisses

Oh Karen Walker, you do know how to remind me how satisfying it can be to throw together something fun - thrilling really!

^ I freaking LOVE IT.

The Spring 2008 collection slipped into Urban Outfitters territory here and there but overall some fresh things.

Young Love

Alexander Wang designs a super proper spring so it's no surprise his first NY show really delivered! This collection is a little less architecturally identifiable than last spring but it's still fabulous. Checks and dots and sheers yes please!

Books Written For Girls

I really love everything Rachel Comey designs so surprise surprise - her Spring 2008 collection had me at first glance. Such great patterns and colors with an overarching sense of delicacy perfect for that over-achieving day after one too many of frumping it (wouldn't that white dress make you feel special?). I recently acquired a pair of library friendly black rimmed glasses via our favorite back alley thrift thrift and was already aching to get the lenses put in but now, oy those lovely employment benefits better kick in soon.

Rachel Comey

Look forward to seeing the backs of these pieces knowing her history of opens, slits and dips.

Speaking of Rachel's and pretty classic dresses...

Fresh

This is the first bit from New York Fashion Week that blew my mind...

Likely unwearable but amazingly dyed and constructed Marchesa.

I'm excited to see what else Spring 2008 offers up - so far some cool necklines and sleeves going on and gosh the HIGH WAISTED PENCIL IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE ANYTIME SOON!

You, you are my kangaroo...

The colors of these fall Vanessa Bruno pouches are so special. If I had to move on from my trusty wallet this first one could sway me.
