Isabel Marant Spring/Summer 09 - Paris

The strange thing is, today I was pondering THE SWEAT PANT. On my drive home, wondering how and if they might ever be shown so as not to give me the creeps. And well half way across the world...

Nina Ricci Spring/Summer 09 - Paris

yess...super inspirational. Of all traits enviable, delicacy and grace top my list.

Nina Ricci

The girl that always comes to mind has a ton of the stuff (not Nina Ricci, but grace) and it's alarmingly charming. Such an incredible air around her.

Fendi Spring/Summer 09 - Milan

Quite possibly my favorite image from spring thus far. The white leather, the layers and textures in the skirt!!

Marni Spring/Summer 09 - Milan

Something about the proportions at Marni this season left me sticking to those without the skirts.

Marni

The shoes were nuts, but I smiled at the lavender pair oh so much. That heel is a weapon and I can only get grumpier by next spring.

Milan Spring/Summer 09

The marigolds and browns at Bottega Veneta so so so nice. Jil Sander had none of the stuff but did black very right.
Also am loving the cuts of the jackets around this season!! Long, thin, double breasted, straight across, fun.
I took a liking to Etro's collection as well. Even the waist bags seemed somehow fresh.

Off to dream about a adorned dress like the one above, heavy like a xray coat or a suit of armor. At times like these, I need one.

Prada spring/summer 09 - Milan

Liked the show (especially given my love for wrinkles), but it didn't really feel like Prada.

Then again, maybe I am just too too attached to the last few seasons.

Burberry Prorsum spring/summer 09 - Milan

wowww he keeps doing it
I've dabbled with the idea of aquiring a marni necklace each season, but this is some fierce competition for my heart

I went looking for my darling...

This look, from dress to androgynousness, has me yearning.

London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 09

London s/s 09 has really been exceeding my expectations (NY lowness) and I've loved so many things. Interesting textures and color combinations (I think Richard Nicoll is the first one that has shown those colors in a appealing manner this season).
Luella wasn't for me minus a couple things but think the collection was well done overall.

The fit of this s/s 09 Graeme Black is so ideal - def one to reference for the next coat.

I fell for this show.

September's not so far away

More s/s 09 favs.

This look from LWren Scott, although the shirt is a bit much.

The low scoop of this shirt. The Helmut Lang show as a whole though seemed bland, lately the label seems like a rich womans Theory. Sadness.

Jacket from Ralph Lauren - taken out of the show and put with drastically different pieces?

Do you wanna hear my confession?

One of my fav Phillip Lim shows in a while! Renewed faith. Eyes on the darling silver skirt and more nude tones.

Not sure about the belt bow, but the dress unders is cute enough.
++ I would definitely pick up those sandals.

Naked Babies

My favorite shirt right now is a vintage nude tank I bought for under a dollar. It's loose and short. Just perfect. With the heat it's practically all I want to wear. It got me rolling down an endless path of flesh colored love and I can never say no to Derek Lam as it is.
The sheer knits are great too?
I also was quite inspired by Jeremy Laing's organic skirts tucked beneath the billowy blouses.

It's a pity, to feel this way...

This is the first s/s 09 dress that really made me gasp. Not especially beautiful, but cool - I think I may pick it up as long as the neckline isn't iffy in addition to those flat grey ankle laceups (ribbon is supreme).

The rest of the Marc by Marc collection was one of my favorites from his most recents as well.

Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 09 - New York Fashion Week

The bangles at Marc Jacobs were a treat, because I never really think of him a jewelry go to. Such good textures. Something special in those shoes below too.

Death From Above

Last night Diane invited me to a screening of Deathbowl to Downtown, a upcoming documentary about the evolution of skateboarding in New York City - lots of inspiring images I had never seen before (especially being from California).

Really well put together. Narrated by Chloë Sevigny.

While I'm sure some kids are pushing the limits in new breed of alternative culture somewhere out there, for a while I've been wondering - where's OUR scene? The current youth seems to be still hanging onto now socially accepted activities and I'm dying for some 'fuck you' innovation.
Things need to be stirred up.

Go On Drone

I appreciated these pieces from Alexandre Hercovitch, but I think my love affair with him is over. Sadly, it's been seasons since he blew my mind. Karen Walker kept some of the usual charm, especially the white dresses but also left me a bit underinspired.

End Of A Hollywood Bedtime Story

Saturday night. Jesse and I headed to Chinatown and popped in the Welcome Hunters event. I always wish Welcome Hunters was better, but it is usually a mess sans Brian Litchtenberg. Downed a glass of wine, took off and after some screaming about Fairfax parking checked out the new Keep store. I always forget to consider them when looking for a new pair of shoes which is sadness because they have some nice things. The eh crowd left us wandering the sidewalk, swinging from lightposts and sneaking into that euro hotel a block up. So eerie. We stumbled into the wallpaper a bit and then took off to The Crosby to see mike ill DJ. Chimay!

Somehow we trailed off to an awkward loft party where The Shadow Scene ended up capturing some serious crotch shots thanks to Jesse. At 5am it was just like 'oh fuck we're still in Santa Ana.'

Heartbeats

There's a soft spot in my heart for Yigal. I loved the fabric detailing and curling...special pieces. Jenni Kayne seemed to lack that piece-craving but her looks are definitely spoke to my personal style.

Just like honey...

The first bits of NY fashion week. Loved Trovata's easy threads with cute detailing, dark summer by way of lace from Rachel Roy and Sue Stemp. Even a couple fantastic long dresses from the bunch (not that I'm giving up bare legs anytime soon).

About time to ring my former coworker who now works there.

Breakfast of Champions

I love wearing baggy blouses with the wrinkles in them.
It feels so right, but I think I should feel semi-wrong, and expect someone to call me out for looking like I just rolled out of bed. Which is typically the all-too-literal case.

But I am really starting to appreciate the look, and yays to Morrison making feel like my early-morning debacles are high fashion.

Shit, fashion week starts tomorrow. Shiiit!

Books Written For Girls

jesse reyna jr passed me this sheer skirt on the way to champagne thrift crawling our way this weekend through used books and blazers.

Excited to test.
His summer 2009 designs are beyond excellent. Note the aww jumper.
