Ten Accessories

I've settled into a rhythmic flow of consumerism:
a) scour each runway season for a couple absolutely perfect pieces to blow a paycheck on, wait around 6 months and throw my head back with success
b) visit a couple showrooms and forget I'd even ordered the things by the time my personal arrives
c) pad like mad at thrift stores. my ideal price range is from 5/$3 - $2.75.
d) ACCESSORIES AND SHOES
shoes, see: find a shoe like none other in my closet, that I can't understand how I've ever lived without (if I have chunky, I want pin stiletto. If I have stripper 5" platform, I want a pair of school-girl flats.)

Here are 10 I'd eat leftover Friday Morning bagels all week for.

Margiela. The heel is A-R-T.

Another thing I am really goooood at is resisting purchases that should not be resisted. And because misery likes company, here are the latest two I've missed out on.
Sold out?!

Matt Bernson, LD Tuttle.
I still have hope that the LD Tuttle is out there somewhere. This version exactly only though no shine or featherness.

I saw a girl at Barneys with an envelope thin black leather handbag over her boney little shoulder and have never been the same since (god that sounds so shallow). The SHIH shape is perfect, just wish it wasn't metallic.

The Foley Corinna are quite appropriate as well.

I nearly forgot what it feels like to be cold. The weather is finally reminding me in LA. I don't like it! I just feel fussy and uncomfortable and want to be warm.

Echo gloves, Safe, Torn, Pauls Mom...perfect timing for

100% BABY ALPACA

I've been thinking about the truth of the Alpaca claim lately - the one that claims that fur used is from babies that "died from natural causes."

Rachel Comey (among others, ex. Hortensia at Oak below) used a ton of the stuff in her collection this season.

How far can you really stretch "natural causes?"
Stopped eating from depression?
Fell weak from poor habitat?

Natural is, sadly, extremely unlikely. I'm completely happy with fakey.

EDIT: Thank you to Rachel Comey Studio for setting the record straight on their practices. (See comments)

Loeffler Randall Fall

It is raining and finally nearing fall in LA (thanks, global warming!), so here's the fall silhouette I'm dreaming of.

The Shape of Things

Digging the cover of this album.

Speaking of lines and shapes, The Dears Bandana is also kind of great. Their latest is at the top of my long long, too long, list of music to catch up on.

ON DECK at Tradition 11/22

I've been a little preoccupied this week, getting boards ready for ON DECK, a skateboard show happening this Saturday night. I had a lot of chuckles with my concepts - bows from vintage fabrics and a panda stuffed-animal backpack (the other side of deck has shoulder straps, get it????)

Christian Lacroix, Julia Menthel, Pearls and Marc Bows

Feeling romantic. Or goth. Or romanticizing goth quite possibly. Bows and ribbons and pearls have been occupying my little pocket of inspiration and I wouldn't mind taking jcrew up on this chain.

Tall ankle boots just smashed all thoughts of low booties out of the water. I would urge you to review this image and join my team. We will riot through the towns drinking Jameson and Sophia Minis in $700 stunning pairs or $5 vintages and tear some shit apart.

Remember Matches

I'm a little obsessed with matches as it is. These colored tips and books are so nostalgic...

Bassike Slim Tapered

New pants.

Super tight and slightly high waisted - in a I feel like I just got transported to the 50s way, with some stretch and fade in an I wish I was still sitting on my couch way.

We Have The Facts

Recently I'd been pondering if Obama fanatics would keep their silkscreened HOPE posters and "BaROCK The Vote" t-shirts post election. It's cool to hate the current administration and campaign for "change" but is it really cool to like the President, now that he's elected and all?

I got my answer, Friday night at the Paper pop-up.
(at which the vendors looked bored to tears from lack of sales and Cory Kennedy's eyes were rolled back so far into her skull it was astonishing.)

I guess now we're celebrating victory.

I celebrated the victory of my first day off in almost a year with Sophia Minis and passed around a couple bottles of white wine (complete with DJ NN). Woke up the next morning to my car being impounded from some temporary no parking.
Well happy birthday anyway...

Daiquiri juice box

This might be the coolest thing ever.
Daiquiri in a juice box from Cuba.

I want to roam around sipping happily, but it seems too special to drink up. Hmm what to do.
Speaking of cool...this group from the halloween festivities at natural history was oh-so adorable. Something about them...

Cardio

Sliding around with coins is really no place for business cards so I'm left wanting these wood cases that are perfection.

Where to get in LA?

MAP Mag

Every time I look at this shoot from the latest issue of Miami's MAP Mag it grows on me a little more. The striped mini-top and pants make me wish for the figure of a small boy.

Sugar, even odd smiles are in this season

There is something charming but equally eerie about these dressers for sale.

I've realized my closet will never be clean until I get a dresser, so I'm on a mission. These are too short but good for gazing.
