My mom has this incredibly unique power and voice. One that I've always known I could not live without. As many mothers do, a supremely unconditional love and understanding. Her specialty: an ability to transmit this into words so gracefully through the most gentle spirit I have come across in my lifetime.
When I feel my hope fall to the darkest of depths and as though nothing is there, she is there. With the perfect set of concise words to light the path ahead.
When I'm starting wars, to remind me that what I really want is peace.
An unfortunate time has come where now more than ever before I need to record them for future reference. Starting now. This blog has always been not so much a place for others (sorry, honestly) but a place for me. A place to collect images, objects and thoughts that move me to such extent I cannot bare to be without them. A ten year virtual safe box, three years under the ALL THINGS ORDINARY name. Searchable for the years ahead when I'll undoubtedly need her.

It could all be so simple
A couple recent loves from The Selby, Edward leida - design director of W magazine at his home in Manhattan. So obsessed with this print and this kettle shape. How do I find them for myself? My heart is thumping as I stare.

3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexandre Herchcovitch Fall 2010
Ahhhh two of my favs to wrap up NY. Herchcovitch did some of the best work so far in my opinion - the fine detailing is craycray. PS - ultra sheer and fishnet stockings so proper.Done! On to London!

Rodarte Fall 2010
So charming! Enjoying the mix of fabrics, textures and loose knit weaving a lot a lot. One of my favorite collections thus far. Craft aesthetics are hugely inspiring and have become a vital part of my aesthetic-persona. It's become second nature to seek it out in industrial/product design and to see it executed here in this form is definitely special to me.

Ohne Titel, United Bamboo Fall 2010
I LOVE the Ohne Titel collection. No words! United Bamboo is one of my favorite lines but I was a bit disappointed with the overall collection. Nevertheless, a couple of very noteworthy suiting pieces.Ohne Titel

Cushnie et Ochs, Ports 1961, Jen Kao Fall 2010
Draped and gorilla-puff coats mixed mixed with body-con long sleeved dresses yess. Stunned by the Ports pieces, each so architecturally special. I imagine storming through cold weather throwing one over virtually ANYTHING while maintaining an interesting shape and cool elegance.Cushnie et Ochs

Maison et Objet
Maison is hands down the best home accessories fair in the world, spanning multiple convention center halls and five days of design-junkie treats for the eyes. One of the exhibits at Maison I found most inspiring was EXHIBITION TRANSCULTURES by Elizabeth Leriche. Woven chairs from Moroso, knit stools and poofs including my fav from SCP and patterns galore - really outstanding.

Typical me, forgot to bring my camera charger abroad but I'll be posting about a few other lines in weeks to come that I salivated over during the show.
