Dolce Vita Fall 2010

Fantastic collection from Dolce Vita during LA Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower studios. Reworked army jackets, patterned-knit ponchos with hoods and tiny silk jumpers I'm dyiiiing to try on come fall. Here are some snapshots!
PS - Had no idea the designing trio were so young! I was so surprised when three cute girls came out for waves after the show.

110 Years of Fashion

A few photos from Friday's opening of 110 Years of Fashion at the California Market Center in Downtown. So impressed by the results and presentations! Each blogger was assigned a decade and paired with a designer to create an installation inspired by the time. Mine was 90s which was an absolute treat. Focused on grunge, minimalism, and a bit of happy nostalgia, I built out and stacked tiny white tables adorned with some of my favorite things.

Sneak A Picture

Wishing there was more to say and show from the Gen Art Alumni Celebration Tuesday at the Roosevelt. For the past few years the Gen Art Fresh Faces events have been my must-do, the highlight of LAFW, and pure fun. Highlighting the amazing talent that truly exists in LA. I love! This season with the announcement of an alumni bash featuring favs wren, Geren Ford, and Society For Rational Dress I was looking forward to an amazing show. But three hours into the event, I came to realize there was no literal show! A still presentation with no platforms, no space and no organization. Models were unintentionally hidden by a sea of people, a couple tall heads poking out from above the only sign that there was some action (be it untouchable). I saw maybe one piece at best as a squeezed by on my way out. The beautiful Roosevelt backdrop and warm LA night aside, I left disappointed. Especially sad for the designers...they deserved a much better showcase.

Chambers

Truth be told, my favourite black tshirt is actually mens tee! The shape, fabric is superb. So you can imagine my excitement learning about new mens line Chambers, designed by LA-based Devin Carlson (of Fremont, yay) and Matt Goldman (mfg., yay), scrolling down to find an amazing assortment of black tees along with an invite to their press preview at Las Perlas tonight. I have been itching to visit Las Perlas being quite the fan of tequila and mezcal. What an excuse!

To start things off, most excited about the launch of this LA-based jewelry line, les morceaux! I headed downtown to the designer's loft a few weeks ago to shoot these photos for the lookbook. Had a blast styling with her and sam as our sosupermodel!

Los Angeles Fashion Week

LAFW, lol. Laughs aside (we can laugh at ourselves, right?) LA is legit. A little sloppy, but legit. Great lines, great things going on this week. I'll be highlighting several new brands, collections and covering a few shows here. Am also involved in an event going on Friday at the CMC (along with sosupersam and a handful of other LA-based bloggers)!

Come out for drinkies, see my attempt at channeling the 90s, etc.

Absolutely fantastic. Galliano is intense but there's no denying the beauty of this black dress. + thanks Karl, for keeping our hydration in mind with those canteen covers.

Stella McCartney, Chloe, Vanessa Bruno, Sonia Rykiel Fall 2010

Loved the powerful, professional shapes of the Stella and Chloe collections - the jackets are for a work wardrobe of dreams. Sheers extend to the fun, slouchy looks at Sonia Rykiel (that blue furry coat - !!!) and tucked under and over at Vanessa Bruno. Highlights from the latter are the white sheer shorts and pants layered with dark tights. Amaz!

I love Iceberg! The white button downs, loose plaids, sheers - yes yes yes. All in all, Milan this season provided some of most inspiring thoughts on winter dressing thus far.

In Milan, love love love Fendi pieces and styling - thank you Karl! The boots melt my heart, want them so. Warm&sexy with the Dolce & Gabbana, D&G collections (specifically, I found the sweater prints on sheers rather genius and so inspiring). And some very beautiful touches at Bottega Veneta.

Finally a breath to wrap up London. Sigh sigh sigh. Milan is over too and I'm itching to check out Marni. Where do the weeks go? 2010 is full of life changes and things to do. Thank goodness for the creative arm that keeps fist-pumping in the crowd despite the madness. Adore the Burberry and Marios Schwab plush coats and Peter Pilotto dresses.
